Stem cells are the foundation cells for every organ and tissue in our bodies. The highly specialized cells that make up these tissues originally came from an initial pool of stem cells formed shortly after fertilization. Throughout our lives, we continue to rely on stem cells to replace injured tissues and cells that are lost every day, such as those in our skin, hair, blood and the lining of our gut.
An alternative theory is that stem cells remain undifferentiated due to environmental cues in their particular niche. Stem cells differentiate when they leave that niche or no longer receive those signals. Studies in Drosophila germarium have identified the signals decapentaplegic and adherens junctions that prevent germarium stem cells from differentiating.[60][61]

Your genes largely determine whether you'll be one of these men. But Adam Penstein, MD, chief dermatologist at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System in Lake Success, N.Y., says your genes don't necessarily get the final word. You can save what you've got and (at least in some cases) recover some of what you've lost with one of two medications: a foam or lotion called minoxidil (the brand name is Rogaine) or a prescription pill, finasteride (Propecia).

It involves the transplanting of small sections of scalp and hair follicles from the back of the head to areas that have ceased to grow hair. These plugs of skin may continue to grow hair healthily in their new location. Hair may continue to grow normally in the areas that supplied the plugs.
Non-embryonic (including adult and umbilical cord blood) stem cells have been identified in many organs and tissues. Typically there is a very small number of multipotent stem cells in each tissue, and these cells have a limited capacity for proliferation, thus making it difficult to generate large quantities of these cells in the laboratory. Stem cells are thought to reside in a specific area of each tissue (called a "stem cell niche") where they may remain quiescent (non-dividing) for many years until they are activated by a normal need for more cells, or by disease or tissue injury. Finasteride (Propecia): This medication is FDA approved for use in only men with androgenic hair loss. Finasteride is in a class of medications called 5-alpha reductase inhibitors. It is thought to help reduce hair loss by blocking the action of natural hormones in scalp hair follicles. Propecia is a lower-dose version of a commercially available drug called Proscar that helps shrink enlarged prostates in middle-aged and older men. Women of child-bearing potential should avoid finasteride. Propecia 1 mg tablets are available by prescription and taken once daily. Propecia may grow and thicken hair to some extent for some people, but its main use is to keep (maintain) hair that's still there. Studies have shown that this medication works well in some types of hair loss and must be used for about six to 12 months before full effects are determined. This medication does not "work" in days to weeks, and its onset of visible improvement tends to be gradual. It may be best for men who still have enough hair to retain but also can help some regrow hair. Possible but very unlikely side effects include impotence or a decreased sex drive (libido). Studies have shown that these side effects were possibly slightly more common than seen in the general population and are reversible when the drug is stopped. The cost is about $70-$100/month, which is generally not reimbursed by most health insurers.

Over years of research they discovered the properties of these stem cells in 1998. They found methods to isolate stem cells from human embryos and grow the cells in the laboratory.) in-vitro studies are performed. and the organ is generated in-vitro and then transplanted as a whole. And if the stem cells were able to mutiply to make all cell types i really don't think there would be any dreadful disease existing.

In LOVE...Love It...It's thick & curly, but dry & delicate....I am almost half way through the full size of both the shampoo and conditioner, and although my hair is soft and smooth, not any softer or smoother than it is with much less expensive products, and for some reason these restore products give me gnarly tangles, and I haven't had a problem with tangles since I was about 6 years old.
